HopToDesk vs TeamViewer
TeamViewer is one of the most widely used remote desktop applications in the world, known for its comprehensive feature set and cross-platform support. It provides remote access solutions for personal use, IT support, and enterprise management.
Where HopToDesk fits
TeamViewer is the incumbent, and most teams looking at HopToDesk are already paying for it. The practical difference is where the cost sits: HopToDesk's client is free for personal and business use with no per-technician licence, and the paid tier is the Dashboard, which adds fleet monitoring, ticketing and team management on top rather than gating the remote session itself.

What the Dashboard adds
The HopToDesk client is free. The Dashboard is the paid tier, and it turns remote access into a managed platform, from your first three devices free to 500 and beyond on the Business plan.

Switching from TeamViewer
- Install the free HopToDesk client on the machines you already reach with TeamViewer. It runs portable, so you can trial it without uninstalling anything.
- Create a free Dashboard account and add your first three devices at no cost to see the monitoring and ticket views against real machines.
- Deploy across the rest of the fleet with GPO, Intune, SCCM, Jamf or Ansible, or with a custom-branded client carrying your own name and logo.
- Move your team over once the device list looks right. Roles, invites and SSO are configured from the Dashboard.
On the Business plan you can also import the device list exported from your current tool. Each imported group becomes a deployment with its own enroll link, and the Dashboard checks off each machine as it enrolls, so you always know what is left to move. Read the migration guide
Common questions
Is HopToDesk a drop-in replacement for TeamViewer?
For remote control, file transfer, chat and unattended access, yes. The Dashboard then covers the fleet management side, so most teams run both for a period and cut over once their device list is complete.
Do I pay per technician?
No. HopToDesk does not charge per seat or per technician. The Dashboard is priced on the plan, and the client stays free.
Can I keep using HopToDesk for free?
Yes. The client is free for personal and business use, and the Dashboard has a free plan covering three devices with no time limit.
